“I had originally joined the industry wanting to write RPG music, but when Capcom also dabbled in that industry with ‘Breath of Fire’, they only put me in charge of one piece of music. And so, I left Capcom and took Square’s company entrance test.

With Square, I worked on many collaborations such as those for ‘Live A Live’ and ‘Super Mario RPG’, but the most famous was ‘Kingdom Hearts’.
In Kingdom Hearts, there are pieces of music that were Disney originals, but there was still the pressure of writing new versions without wrecking the feel of that world.

On the other hand, Kingdom Hearts had a heavy story, with themes of dark and light. Mr. Nomura told me, ‘I’d like pieces in the style of Verdi’s Requiem.’ And so, I wrote ‘Destati’, but at the time I wondered whether I hadn’t made a mistake, it being Disney and all.

But, when I wrote the theme for Hollow Bastion in the latter half, it felt like suddenly the Disney worlds and the serious music were connected in one thread. I can’t really explain it in words, but inside me, there was a moment when I became very satisfied with it.”

A new interview with Nomura from Famitsu has been published. The Japanese blog FF-Reunion has posted the details of how their may be changes in the KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep title for the Western release. Along with the information for the Western release, Nomura hints about the next KINGDOM HEARTS title, but that doesn’t mean it’s KINGDOM HEARTS III just yet.

We wanted to know about the next game.
Nomura: First we have to release Kingdom hearts Birth by Sleep in the West. There are plans about making a critical mode, along with adjusting the bosses to a stronger level, because they are a bit weak. Along with those changes, Megaflare will also be adjusted due to it being too strong.

If your changing some content in the Western version, does that mean we will see a Final Mix sometime?
Nomura: We are not sure yet. We have to see where it takes us and how much change there would be in the Western version that will be released. We would like to get a “KINGDOM HEARTS” title out at least once a year, instead of waiting so long.

In two years it will be the 10th anniversary for the series. What about KINGDOM HEARTS III?
Nomura: That’s a secret. There is still a game to come out that is a mystery, but it will connect the series.

Does that mean the Series will be over after the third title from the series?
Nomura: The story for Kingdom Hearts is about Sora, but also one other person. The series is expanding and is also centering on this other person.

The series is currently expanding!?
Nomura: I can’t say anymore than that. (Laughs)

KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days has been nominated for seven awards in the gaming magazine “Nintendo Power“. In the latest issue that’s now on sale, the KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days title won all seven awards that was up for Nintendo DS Game of the Year, Best Sound/Voice Acting, Best Adventure Game, Best Nintendo DS Graphics, Best New Character, Best Story/Writing and Overall Game of the Year.

The next installment for the [KHV] KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep fandub production is complete. This next scene is the “Master Qualifications Exam”. In my opinion, it’s one of the most important scenes from Birth by Sleep.

Our team worked very hard to complete this video, which includes voices for Aqua, Master Eraqus, Master Xehanort, Vanitas and Ventus.

“The Shooting Stars” is our next video with the [KHV] KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep fandub production. This video includes, Ventus, Aqua and Terra in the world “Land of Deapture”. This video is one of the longest fandubs that CGNET PRODUCTIONS has recorded for this particular title. The video scene focuses on the three heroes (Aqua, Ventus, and Terra). Production has changed as we added our own sound effects on top of the music that has been composed by Yoko Shimomura. In one particular scene of this video, Aqua shares her lucky charms that she has created with her two friends, which shares a bond between the three of them. The fandub also shows a scene which prepares for the qualification exam, which is a small hint towards our next video that will be releasing on KHV very soon.

Fans from the series are looking for a release date confirmation by Square-Enix since KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep released in Japan. It’s officially been a month since the release and still there has been no official announcement.

In the recent issue of Game Informer, there is a two page spread involving KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep. The magazine claims that Square-Enix won’t be releasing KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep before June-August 2010 in North America.

The latest chapter of the KINGDOM HEARTS series is out in the wild, unless you’re fluent in Japanese (or have two helpful who are), however, you’re out of luck until sometime this summer. Square Enix told us that the North American release of Birth by Sleep will hit sometime between June and August. The new cover for the KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep Ultimania has been revealed, along with information and details from what the Ultimania book offers in this six-hundred page artwork book.

- Following the three main character’s scenarios, information regarding deck commands, mini games and useful information in the game is presented with beautiful 3D maps and artwork from the new title.
- There is also must see content for fans of the Kingdom Hearts series. mysteries from the game are explained. A large amount of illustrations are introduced/shown, and furthermore, an interview with director, Tetsuya Nomura is included in the Ultimania.
- Since the last seven Ultimanias released, this is the second largest book with over six-hundered pages of content.
- The book is set for March 25th 2010, retailing at 1900 yen.

When Tetsuya Nomura had gone to Famitsu to talk about KINGDOM HEARTS, he revealed that the proper third title, was in fact, on his mind.

KINGDOM HEARTS III is NOT by any means, currently under development. Despite this, Nomura said to Famitsu, “Fans and partners alike are pressing us for it, so we’ll work to realize it as soon as possible.” He also stated that the third game will come from one of either two teams. Either from the Tokyo team, which worked on KINGDOM HEARTS I & II, and is currently working on FINAL FANTASY Versus XIII. Or, from the Osaka team, which handled BIRTH BY SLEEP.

I find these words from Nomura are quite comforting considering that every one of us has been foaming at the mouth for a third title ever since the ending to KINDGOM HEARTS II. And even more so after seeing the secret ending to BIRTH BY SLEEP.

Now if only he can listen to everyone clamoring for the FINAL FANTASY VII remake.

In my recent trekking about the internet, I have found a few interesting pieces of news regarding KINGDOM HEARTS: Birth By Sleep.

During the week of January 25 to January 31, KINGDOM HEARTS: Birth By Sleep has fallen in the top 10 game sales list in Japan, being surpassed by games such as Wii Fit Plus, New Super Mario Bros., and Dragon Quest VI. However, its number of units sold continues to climb, selling another 30,000 units and bringing its overall number up to 713,000, which, in my opinion, is quite impressive for game that’s been out for less than a month.

According to FF Reunion, Amazon JP has listed KINGDOM HEARTS: Birth By Sleep ULITIMANIA with a confirmed release date of March 25th with a price of 1,995 yen.

It also seems that Hot Topic is updating their website with some more KINGDOM HEARTS merchandise. Two new products have been added to the section of KINGDOM HEARTS gear including a new T-Shirt, and a new Key Pin. Our thanks to Horo from KHVids for bringing this merch to our attention!
